Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

21 Nov

Each week, our local newspaper publishes a column called “Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down”. Readers are invited to submit contributions reflecting on life locally. Here are some recent gems…

Thumbs Up to the honest gentleman at the tip who held onto my money for a number of weeks and returned it to me when I went back a couple of days ago. Thank you for your honesty and goodwill.

Thumbs Down to the nasty deli attendant who on Monday at 4:35pm refused to slice some strasberg (sic) for the elderly man, saying that she had just cleaned the slicer. The deli closes at 7pm, shame on you!

Thumbs Up to New England Veterinary Clinic for taking care of my little pup dog of 13 years.

Thumbs Down to daylight savings. The kids just won’t go to bed on time.

Thumbs Down to people who do not pull over for ambulances. It’s illegal you know! It’s too late when you get to the roundabout; they need to get past you!

Thumbs Down to the lady seen smoking with a car full of young children! What are you thinking? You’re a terrible role model and your parenting skills are questionable! Shame on you!
